We get a lot of questions here at Peachies. We try to answer them all to the best of our ability but we thought we would post some of our most frequently asked questions.
What is COE? COE (Coefficient of Expansion) refers to the rate at which a glass expands and contracts when heated or cooled. Glasses must be of the same COE to be considered fusing "compatible". For example: all the products carrying the System 96 label are compatible with each other. We try our best to keep all like types of glass together as we have many COE's of glass.
What is TX glass? TX refers to glass that is a limited run. We purchase this glass because it can have a unique color combination or style of glass. It differs from the standard run of the glass, and is usually one of a kind. If you purchase a piece of this glass (it actually has a TX or SP on the label) be sure to buy more than you may need because this glass is not able to be ordered. Nothing is worse than accidentaly breaking a piece during construction and you aren't able to replace it.
Do you have to have a lot of glass experience to join your classes? We pride ourselves on having classes that cater to the advanced crafter and to those who have little or no experience. If you take a look at our class schedule, you will notice that if a class requires any advanced knowledge the description will say so.
Why can a repair be so expensive? Repairs can be expensive due to the time involved in the process. There is a lot that goes into removing and replacing a broken piece of glass. Many times if the panel was purchased at a cheap cost, the repair may be more than the price of the piece. If it is a piece you love, we can discuss other options with you.
